alright, so, this is a brand new blog. the next couple of chapters discuss it, but there's a brand new chapter at the bottom if you want to skip to it.
previously, this was meant as some sort of documentation of my attempts at becoming a published author. well, that resulted in my book, home is gone, being published via lulu.com, but it's only sold a couple of copies and not much else has changed. the experience was anti-climactic, but wonderful nonetheless. i've accomplished my goal, and for all intents and purposes, that journey is over.
so, now is the beginning of a new journey; the beginning of a new blog.
what is this new blog going to consist of? at it's simplest, this blog will become a consistent creative exercise, in which i will write seven chapters each week. it won't be a strict schedule of a new chapter every day, but there will be seven chapters each week, with a goal of 365 chapters written by 11:59 pm on december 31, 2011. this probably won't consist of a neat 52 stories. there may be some stories that are only three or four chapters long, and there may be stories that end up fifteen or twenty chapters long.
so, welcome to 7 Chapters.
love,
the hopeful author
ps: here's your very first chapter.

Smile
"You're not thinking of jumping, are you?" I heard a voice I didn't recognize.
"No," I answered without turning around from my seat on the ledge of the cliff. "You're not thinking of pushing me, are you?"
He laughed, his voice much closer, before asking, "Is it okay if I sit down next to you?"
I nodded. He sat his glass down and sat beside me, throwing his legs in front of him to dangle over the cliff's face.
"Not enjoying the party?" he asked.
"No, not exactly," I laughed and took my first look at the stranger who wanted to keep me company.
He was smiling at me, but it didn't seem like a complete smile. Like a half-baked cookie. It was a little floppy, a little droopy, and just not finished. It seemed sad. And you could tell, that somewhere underneath that incomplete smile laid a bright, full fledged grin, just waiting to erupt. I guess that might be a better comparison. It seemed like a dormant smile. Something laying in wait for a time worthy it's appearance.
And it made me smile, hoping that I might get to see it in it's complete glory someday.
